The Malvern is delighted to announce that it has been awarded 4 AA Star status which makes it the first hotel in the Malvern and Worcester area to receive 4 AA Stars.

The journey down to Elgar Country is a long one. Six-and-half hour’s drive via the M6, but one that’s worth it. We arrive in the pretty town of Malvern just as the sun is setting over Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point of the Malvern Hills, and are more than ready for the calm oasis that is The MalvernSpa Hotel.
Built on the site of the original 1910 Malvern spa, it sits in the middle of a business park which slightly detracts from the zen quality of the spa itself. However, once at reception there’s an instant air of calm, from the mellow tones of the computerised voice in the lift telling you that the doors are opening, to the tray stocked with camomile and peppermint tea in the well-furnished, Italian-style en-suite room.
Next day gives us a chance to sightsee a little of historic Malvern, a town famous for its water as well as being the birthplace of composer Edward Elgar.
Later, before the delights of a luxurious massage, I take to the hydro-pool in my attempt to escape the stresses and strains of modern life. After a quick swim round the various jots and whirlpool baths, I try out what’s described in the hotel information as the “thermal rituals’. First up is the rustic-style Kelo sauna. Then the herb sauna, where essential oils and seasonal herbs are gently steamed to cleanse body and mind, and the crystal steam room, to open the pores and relieve tension. My favourite, though, is the Salt Grotto, a room to restore the respiratory system, skin and body.
On to the spa itself, where I’m exfoliated and expertly treated to a 90-minute massage, then shown to the relaxation suite where I snuggle into a deep comfortable sofabed watching a projection of a logfire, with its crackling sound effects, along the facing wall.
The time to make the trip back home to Glasgow comes round far to soon, but thoughts of a return visit are not far from my mind.

Treatment-wise, you couldn't ask for anything more. With scores of unique and fabulous facials, massages, wraps and manicures, there's more than enough on offer to satisfy even the most demanding of clients.
All packages include use of the hydro pool and thermal suite, fitness facilities and exercise studio and a light lunch.
You enjoy your meal in the brasserie, bathed in light from the glass atrium. It boasts 200-year-old olive trees and is open all day for members and day spa guests.
For those lucky enough to be staying overnight, the Gallery restaurant is exceptionally good, serving fabulous fine dining alongside traditional bistro style cuisine.
When a hotel spa is as good as this, and at affordable prices, it's the perfect way to banish the end of Summer blues."
